Rawr - Shell Handmade Terrazzo Soap Dish

A stylish and beautiful handmade Rawr Terrazzo soap dish made from locally sourced reclaimed mussels and oyster shells from the restaurant trade. This white soap dish has grooves on the surface for bar soap to drain and dry between uses and is speckled with mussel shell fragments. Smooth and tactile this modern terrazzo soap dish is a stunning and practical addition to your plastic-free bathroom.

Hardwearing and sustainable, Rawr uses recycled mussel shells in this soap dish, salvaged locally from the restaurant trade, thoroughly cleaned, dried and crushed before being mixed with jesmonite to create beautiful and unique homeware pieces. Each soap dish is hand-poured using a Jesmonite mix, a natural material made from gypsum, a sedimentary rock, in a low-energy manufacturing process. A lightweight, highly durable and long-lasting material that is perfect for homeware items. The soap dish is then sanded smooth and sealed to protect it from light stains and water. This Shell Terrazzo Soap Dish would make a fabulous eco-friendly gift teamed up with one of our luxury handmade soap bars at Babipur.

  • Handmade in the UK using locally sourced recycled shells

Key product ethics: Made from reclaimed shells from local restaurants and jesomite in a low-energy manufacturing process. Making use of a waste material that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

Clare and Pippa first met when their sons formed a strong bond over dinosaurs at Pre School, hence the name RAWR! Realising they shared the same passions and after trading next to one another at various markets and art fairs, the duo decided to pair up and form Rawr. With a vision to only use recycled materials, they decided to make all of their homeware from recycled shells and leftover bags of cement. Local tradesmen have been very supportive and provided Clare and Pippa with any opened bags of cement that would otherwise have gone to landfill, allowing Rawr to produce a fully recycled range of homeware products.
