Advice for Trail Runners: The Salomon Men's Ultra Glide 2 Trail Running Shoes in the Black/Flint Stone/Green Gecko colourway are for long-distance trail runs. The protective cushioning is coupled with a versatile outsole pattern.
Underfoot Feel
A substantial amount of Energy Foam cushioning should feel protective and comfortable underfoot. The Salomon Ultra Glide 2 midsole also features their Reverse Camber rocker geometry. This is likely to smooth out transitions from landing to take-off.
Running long distances on trails usually involves covering a wide array of surfaces. Thankfully, the Contagrip outsole with 3.5 mm deep lugs offers traction over an expansive range of terrain. Although, it's unlikely to inspire lots of confidence on very muddy ground.
Upper Fit
The Salomon Ultra Glide 2 upper should feel lightweight and flexible. However, Salomon's signature Sensifit technology offers great midfoot support.
You can easily adjust the foot hold and lace pressure by sliding the toggle up or down on the Quicklace system. This stows away in a pocket on top of the tongue.
Ideal Run Type
All of the attributes of the Salomon Men's Ultra Glide 2 Trail Running Shoes make them a great choice for long distance trail runs. Naturally, this means we recommend them for ultra distance events.

Sizing Advice
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
